This November, JSU drama will perform The Imaginary Invalid by Molière. The French play is adapted by Constance Congdon and based on a new translation by Dan Smith.
The play follows Monsieur Argan, a severe hypochondriac, who decides to marry off his daughter to pay his medical bills. It is a play filled with love triangles, hidden agendas, and comedy.
Dr. Michael Boynton, a drama professor working with the production, thinks that it will be a real crowd-pleaser. “Not only is this classic seventeenth-century French play brilliant and historically significant, it’s also full of wacky jokes,” he says.
The Imaginary Invalid will premiere on November 15th at 7:30pm in the Ernest Stone Performing Arts Center. General admission for all performances is fifteen dollars.
Performances will run the 16th and 18th at 7:30pm, and the 17th at 2:30pm.
