This summer, Carolyn Conover directed The SpongeBob Musical at Crossroads Repertory Theatre in Terre Haute, Indiana. The production is being nominated for an American Prize in Musical Theatre. Every year, The American Prize provides individual artists and organizations with “cash awards, professional adjudication, and regional, national, and international recognition…[the prize is] the nation’s most comprehensive series of contests in the performing arts.” Since 2010, The American Prize Organization has awarded thousands of prizes in over a dozen categories of live performance. This is Professor Conover’s first American Prize nomination. Last year, her production of Noises Off at Crossroads Rep was nominated for Broadway World – Midwest’s Best Play of the Year. Carolyn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre and Film, where she specializes in Acting and Directing. This fall, she will direct the JaxState production of Machinal by Sophie Treadwell.
