As former Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, Dr. Staci Stone, has taken the position of Vice Provost for the university. The College of Arts and Humanities is excited to announce that Dr. Tim Lindblom, Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics, is the interim Dean for the College of Arts and Humanities. Originally from Monroeville, Alabama, Lindblom possesses a PhD in Cellular Biology.
How long have you been working at JSU?
Since January of 2016.
What brought you to the College of Arts and Humanities?
The Provost asked if I would be willing to serve as interim dean in the absence of Vice Provost Stone and I am happy to help!
What impact do you hope to have as interim dean?
I hope to use my time to help the departments navigate the current budget and hiring seasons. I’m also working with many folks on two building projects: the ROC and the newly approved storm shelter and multi-purpose building that will be available for indoor practice by the Marching Southerners. All of these are keeping my pretty busy this spring!
What are you most looking forward to regarding this new position?
I love the disciplines in CAH. I spent the first 14 years of my career at a small liberal arts college where I collaborated with faculty from all disciplines on a daily basis. I love the activity, creativity, and ethos of the CAH!
Do you have any notable achievements you wish to share?
I once published a photograph in a fine arts journal. That photograph is below.
What do you do in your spare time?
I love many forms of outdoor recreation. My favorites are birding, cycling, and fly-fishing.
What advice would you give to students?
Stay curious and get engaged!
Anything else you would like us to include?
I want everyone in the CAH to call on me if I can be of any assistance in my role as interim dean. I plan to follow in the big footsteps left by Dean Stone and keep things running as before but I’m happy to help if anyone needs assistance.
