Celebrate Día de los Muertos with the Spanish Club! This year, the organization is partnering with El Latido de Me Cultura to celebrate the holiday, which spans over the first two days of November as the connection between the real and spiritual worlds opens to allow those who have deceased to return to the real and visit their family.
Both student groups will make a trip to Birmingham on November 5, where there will be a Día de los Muertos street festival hosted by the nonprofit Bare Hands, Inc. The Spanish Club is very excited to attend the festival to celebrate and get a deeper understanding of the holiday and the Mexican culture from which it originates. “For many of our members, this will be the first time eating actual Mexican food and delicacies too! Through the altar displays and the cultural celebrations, the club will immerse itself in the beautiful, lively Hispanic culture. El mundo es nuestro, and we want to see more, do more, and know more!” said Spanish Club President MaCalaah Johnson.
Those interested in joining the celebration should reach out to the Spanish Club via their Instagram (@spanishclubjsu).
