
Eleanor Boozer, a senior from Alexandria, is majoring in Theatre Production and minoring in Photography. Last semester, Boozer was hired to be the costume designer for The Shakespeare Project’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Why did you decide to attend JSU?
In my junior year of high school, I job shadowed one of the professors in the Theatre Department. I really enjoyed my time then and wanted to go to school close to home.
Why did you choose your major?
I wanted to combine both my love for the performing arts and my passion for sewing.
In your opinion, what is the coolest thing about the Theatre and Film Department?
The fact that so many individuals with so many diverse backgrounds and experiences can come together to create one big masterpiece. The passion and teamwork from the faculty and students are truly magical.
What clubs/organizations are you involved in?
I am involved in the theatrical honor society known as Alpha Psi Omega.
What is your favorite thing to eat and/or drink on/off campus?
No matter how hot it is outside, I’m always craving a grilled cheese and tomato soup from Freshens.
Where is your favorite place to hang out on campus?
In the green room or one of the shops at Stone Center.
What is the last play or movie that you saw?
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
What are your hobbies?
Sewing, dancing, kayaking, cycling, photography
What are your post-grad plans?
While my post-grad plans aren’t fully figured out yet, my goal is to work with costumes in either the theatre or dance industry.
What advice would you give a student who is new to JSU?
Get outside of your comfort zone. There’s a whole world of possibilities and potential new friends if you take risks.
What course would you recommend to a freshman at JSU?
Even if you have debilitating stage fright, take Acting 1. I learned so many perspectives of the world and greatly improved my self-confidence taking that class.
