Devin Lentz, a junior Music Education major from Ringgold, Georgia, was recently named to the Dean’s List for the Spring and Fall 2020 semesters.
Why did you decide to attend JSU?
I decided to attend JSU because the Marching Southerners is a world-class marching band that seemed like a welcoming family that would provide me with friendships that will last a lifetime. I made the right choice.
Why did you choose your major?
I chose Music Education because I want to help provide the opportunity for music to change children’s lives for the better, similar to the way that it changed mine.
What is your favorite thing to eat on/off campus?
I love to sit down with friends and enjoy sandwiches at Red Rooster.
What clubs/organizations are you involved in?
I am involved in the JSU Music Department, The Marching Southerners, Chamber Winds, Jazz Ensemble 1, JSU Civic Symphony, and JSU HardCorps.
What are your post-grad plans?
After my graduation, I plan to teach middle or high school band while studying Music Composition and/or Film Scoring at the University of Southern California.
Advice to students new-to-JSU?
The best advice that I can give to students that are new to JSU is to always go to class and participate. Apply yourself in as many things as you can and make friendships that you can carry with you for the rest of your life. This is your education- make the most of it!
