In place of the traditional on-campus preview day, JSU held a virtual preview day on April 18th. This event allowed Deans and academic representatives to present information about the different majors and opportunities at JSU.
Prospective students were also provided with information such as financial aid and housing and had the chance to attend virtual meetings with advisors.
The School of Arts and Humanities did an excellent job preparing for the online event, with remarks from Dean Stone, introductions to each department by the department heads, and student testimonials. Each video featured specific information about available courses, departmental activities, and possible job opportunities. In addition, each field of study was supplemented with videos introducing special courses and opportunities within each major. The video format allowed each department to feature pictures, video clips from events and courses, and “tours” within different academic buildings.
In some respects, this virtual preview day was a more comprehensive look into each major within the School of Arts and Humanities than traditional preview days!
