As JSU courses transition online, organizations and departments across campus have been growing an online presence.
This is true for the Southern Circuit of Independent Filmmakers at JSU, which provides free film screenings to faculty and students. Considering recent events, the remaining film screenings for this semester will be virtually streamed.
“You Gave Me a Song” will be streamed on April 13th at 6:30pm. The film follows old-time music pioneer Alice Gerrard as she performs and teaches at age 84. After the film there will be a virtual Q&A with filmmaker Kenny Dalsheimer. “Little Miss Westie,” a film about Luca McCarthy (a 14-year-old transgender boy) and his little sister Ren (an 11-year-old transgender girl), will be streamed on April 20th at 6:30. The film will follow their lives for a year as they make sense of themselves and the world around them.
“Who Will Write our History,” a documentary following the anti-Nazi efforts of journalists, scholars, and community leaders in the Warsaw Ghetto, will be screened on April 27th at 6:30pm. Following the streaming, there will be a Q&A with Director, Writer, and Producer Roberta Grossman.
