
Reece Holland, a senior from Oneonta, AL, is a foreign language major focusing in Spanish, with a minor in Creative Writing.
Why did you decide to attend JSU?
I chose JSU because it was a smaller school, close to home, and I received a scholarship.
What are some of your hobbies?
My hobbies and interests are sports, music, philosophy, and religion.
What is your favorite thing to eat in Jacksonville?
My favorite thing to eat in Jacksonville is either Baja or Chick-Fil-A.
Why did you choose your major?
I chose Spanish as a major because I have always had an affinity for language, and I love foreign language especially.
What class are you most excited for this semester?
I am really excited about my microbiology course this semester–I am going to nursing school after graduation.
What has been the most meaningful experience you’ve had as a college student so far?
The most impactful experience I have had as a college student is probably working through the relationship between freedom and responsibility. Beyond that, I have learned countless other lessons, but that is the main one, I think.
How has JSU been preparing you for life after college?
Again, I think the main benefit is my growing understanding of the challenge of responsibility. Learning to do my best even when I am tired or I am not having fun is super important.
Do you have any post-graduation plans?
Yes! I am planning to enter the Second Degree Master’s of Nursing program at UAB in 2021. I am very excited about it.
