
Kenli Doss, a junior at JSU, is from Piedmont, AL. She is double majoring in English and Drama with a focus in Performance.
Why did you decide to attend JSU?
I decided to attend JSU because of the intimate and comfortable classroom environment. JSU feels like home to me.
What are some of your hobbies?
As far as hobbies go, I enjoy writing and drawing/painting in my free time. I also enjoy gardening when I have the time.
What is your favorite thing to eat on/off campus?
My favorite thing to eat both on and off campus is Chick-Fil-A. It’s fast and easy and yummy.
Why did you choose your major/minor?
I chose my majors because I have always been in love with the arts. Writing and acting are two passions of mine, and I hope to turn them into a career one day.
What are your post-grad plans?
After I graduate, I plan to spend a couple of years oversees teaching English as a second language and saving up money for grad school.
What do you love most about JSU English/Drama?
My absolute favorite aspect of both the English and Drama departments at JSU is the sense of family. Everyone is friendly and close here, which makes me feel at home.
How have you been in involved in JSU Drama so far (roles, plays, etc)?
Last semester, I played the part of Willie in the play This Property is Condemned for the Student Showcase here. This semester, I played the part of Angelique in The Imaginary Invalid.
Are you involved in any clubs/organizations?
I am now the Vice President of the Writers’ Club, and I am a new member of the Alpha Psi Omega National Theatre Honor Society Omicron Eta Cast.
What has been your favorite course so far?
So far, my favorite course has been Acting I. I learned so much in that class, and it is one of the reasons that I fell in love with acting.
Who is your favorite professor, and why?
My favorite professor is Susan Dean. Like most of my professors, she goes out of her way to help her students in any way she can and is a very welcoming and nice person. She and I seem to have a lot in common, and I look up to her both as a person and as a teacher.
