Why did you decide to attend JSU?
When I first visited JSU’s campus I fell in love with it. I immediately knew that this is where I wanted to be. The campus size is great and everyone during my time here has been amazing. I knew that it would be a great place to explore opportunities and grow as a person.
What are some of your hobbies?
I like to read, watch movies, hang out with my friends and go to the History Club.
What is your favorite thing to eat on/off campus?
On campus I like Freshens, off campus I like to go to Locomex.
Why did you choose your major/minor?
I was originally a Secondary Education Major with a concentration in History. However, I realized that I did not want to work in a high school, so I became a History major with a minor in Secondary Ed. The History major feels right to me as it will give me a lot of options when I graduate, such as being a museum curator or working in an archive.
What are your post-grad plans?
I am currently enrolled in the grad Faster-Master’s program for History. I will graduate with a Master’s degree in the spring of 2021. After that, I plan to try to get a job at a community college or a junior college. I’m also thinking of applying for a position at a museum.
What has been the most impactful experience you’ve had as a college student?
The most impactful experience for me has been becoming the President of the History Club, and really just joining History Club in general. History club has brought me so many rewarding friendships, ones that I will have for the rest of my life. As the President, I have been given numerous opportunities to grow and develop interpersonal and professional skills. Being the club President has brought me out of my shell and helped me to grow in my self-confidence.
What do you love most about JSU?
I love JSU most for its welcoming community. The atmosphere of JSU’s campus is truly one of inclusion. I found that it was very easy to make friends and all of the faculty are very helpful whenever you have a question. This atmosphere made the transition from high school into adulthood very smooth.
Are you involved in any clubs/organizations?
President of History Club, Senator for Student Senate, and I was made a SAH Ambassador this semester.
What has been your favorite course so far?
I really enjoyed Modern Germany with Dr. Lemmons.
