Wyatt Adair, a senior majoring in history and minoring in anthropology, is from Speake, Alabama. Wyatt is a member of both the History Club and Phi Alpha Theta, and he is a student advisor for the Tabletop & Collectible Card Game (CCG) Club. He has also served as a student ambassador for the School of Arts and Humanities.

Do you have any hobbies?

I like to read, hike, play videogames, and watch films.

What is the last book you read?

The last book I read for class was Arc of Justice, by Kevin Boyle, but I read A Boy and His Dog, by Harlan Ellison, on my own time.

What is your favorite thing to eat on/off campus?

My favorite restaurant around Jacksonville is Baja Mexican Grill.

Why did you decide to attend to JSU?

I decided to come to JSU because I was interested in the small class sizes, the ability for the professors to have more one-on-one time with students, and also just the university’s friendliness. It simply felt like I was coming home.

Why did you choose your major?

The reason why I chose History as my major is that I have always enjoyed it, and I wanted to keep that passion for it alive by majoring in it.

What are your post-graduation plans (if any)?

I plan to go get my Master of Library and Information Science degree, then to get my Masters in History when I can.

Why do you love doing what you do at JSU?

I have loved my time in college because JSU has allowed me to be me and also to find myself/who I am as a person.

What has been the most impactful experience you’ve had as a college student?

The most impactful experience that I would say that I have had as a college student here was the March 2018 tornadoes. It was a bad experience for everyone; however, I found the best in myself and the whole Jacksonville community as everyone came together for the school and the town. It was amazing, and I am glad that we all came out stronger because of it. This memory always reminds me why I consider Jacksonville my home.

What about your learning experience in the History Department gives you the confidence to take on life after graduation?

My experiences in the History department have shaped me to better communicate with other people, and above all else, to educate and inform myself about the past, present, and the future. These qualities will prepare me so much for the future and what it brings.
